Journaling has been shown to decrease stress and improve psychological health.  In this 10 class series, we will learn 12 types of journaling techniques.  Participants will get the chance to practice techniques both in the class and outside the class.  If desired, participants can share their journal and journaling experiences to receive feedback from others during class time.  Participants will be provided with a workbook on the first class date.  You may bring other journals or paper with you and a pen.

Discover Your Spiritual Gifts

Event Information

All of us have spiritual gifts; some are stronger than others.  In this class, we’ll learn what kind of spiritual gifts exist and which ones are your strengths.  The spiritual gift inventory we will be using is based on Christianity, but all types of religions or faiths are able to participate and benefit from this class.  Most religions share in the belief of the gifts listed in the inventory.  Once you learn what your top strengths are, we’ll discuss how you can practically apply them to your life.  Please bring pen and paper to the class.  The inventory will be sent via email to you prior to the class and needs to be returned to score your answers prior to the class.  If you pay the day of the class, I will need to enter your inventory into my database and score it after the class, but will try to email the results to you by the end of the day.  

There are two sections of this class.  One is for Friday, October 22nd at 6-7 and one is October 23th at 2-3.  They are the same class.

Create a DBT Self-Soothe Kit

Event Information

Dialectical Behavior Therapy was originally designed to treat Borderline Disorder, however, it has been shown to be successful at treating a variety of ailments including depression and anxiety.  This program teaches skills along with therapy.  One skill learned in DBT is how to tolerate stressful situations.  In this class, we will learn about the self-soothe skill.  We will create a list of what to put in a self-soothe kit so you will be prepared the next time you find yourself in a stressful situation.  This class is an informational class about DBT and not a therapy session.  I’m happy to refer you to DBT programs or therapists in the area if you want to pursue therapy.   Please bring a pen and paper to class.

Creative Explorations ONLINE

Event Information

Have you ever wanted to write a story or book and didn’t know where to start?  This is the class for you!  In this 10 class series, we will learn some basic writing foundations such as brainstorming, creating characters, and constructing a plotline.  Participants will learn how to give and receive constructive criticism.

Participants will write a short story and have two opportunities for revision: one with the group and one with the presenter, Amanda Woods.  The private editing session will be scheduled at your convenience and last for one hour.  By the end of the class, you should have a short story nearly ready or completely ready to submit for publication.  You should bring pens and paper to class.  Participants will also receive a workbook.

Create a Prayer/Intention Calendar

Event Information

Sometimes it feels like we have so much to pray for or think about that we feel overwhelmed and don’t get much accomplished.  Using colorful prayer or intention methods created by Sybil Macbeth, we will learn how to slow down and focus our energy on one person or intention for each day of the month.  During this class, we will learn the technique for creating a colorful prayer/intention calendar and create one.  Don’t worry if you aren’t an artist–there’s no drawing other than shapes.  Please bring your preferred medium such as crayons, markers, or colored pencils.  

No paint is allowed in class.  You may also want to bring colored pens to work with as well.  

There are two sections of this class.  One is Friday, October 15th at 6 PM-7 PM and one is October 16th at 6 PM-7 PM. They are the same class.

A Look Into Paranormal Investigation

Event Information

In this class, we’ll explore how paranormal investigations began, how to investigate using equipment, and how someone from a Christian background approaches the paranormal.  Please feel free to bring small equipment of your own to the class.  This will include digital recorders, digital or manual cameras, digital thermometers, EMF or K2 devices, spirit boxes, and video recorders.  Please do not bring anything that requires a lot of room to set up such as DVR systems.  We will practice with the equipment in class and I will have it on hand for participants to practice using.  

There will be two sections of this class; one on October 8th at 6 PM, and October 16th at 2:30 PM. They are the same class.

Event Information

Studies show that journaling leads to better physical and emotional health.  Many people find that journaling is a great and inexpensive form of stress relief. Join us in this 10-week course to learn the 10-12 popular types of journaling.

In each class, you’ll learn about: the journaling technique, practice it in class, and give participants time, if desired, to share their previous week’s journaling to gain insight from the group.
