Jeannie Yarborough

Hello, my name is Jeannie Yarborough. I am the creative director at the Crystal Lotus Shoppe. I have been doing artwork since I was in elementary school. I loved to figure out what would happen if I mixed colors or media. I am still intrigued to this day about new ways to create patterns and colors.

As a child, I would create “masterpieces” out of mud and sticks. Granted, these were nowhere near a masterpiece, but I thought so at the time. My family and teachers strongly encouraged my artistic inquisitiveness. As I continued through school, I have exposed to many different media and this lit a fire within me.

Life has a tenancy to sidetrack us from the things that we love to do. I went many years after school not nourishing my creative side. Starting a family of my own, joining the military and the hustle of day to day obligations left little to no time to explore art. Now, as a grandmother and veteran, I am able to pick up the pallet and relearn my passion.

I have had many reasons for art. Besides the pure enjoyment, studies have shown that the therapeutic benefits of creativity are very beneficial. Especially to those who suffer from PTSD and other such challenges. It is a small release of built-up stress and a way to express what cannot be put into words.

I believe that it is a necessity that has been lost in this technological explosion of progress. That is why I have Created these sessions so that we can regain a feeling of peace within ourselves. This small exploration within yourself has the capability of grand gestures. Not only for yourself but for your family, friends, community and workplace. I hope you join me in reconnecting with the child inside.

The time we spend in our creative session allows you to boost your inner voice and allow you to clear your mind and open yourself to releasing those thoughts.

Studies have shown that the more you allow yourself to be creative the more it opens yourself to be more authentic.
